Varesh apparently worships the exiled god Abaddon. The Sunspears have to flee to a secret sanctuary. Istan declares war on Kourna and the Sunspears attack to defend Istan from Varesh, but they are defeated by Varesh's army and the demons that she had summoned. They find out that these corsairs are paid by Varesh Ossa, war marshal of the neigbouring country of Kourna. A group of new recruits is sent to fight against corsairs (pirates). On the islands of Istan, the military organisation of the Sunspears defend their home.
South of the Crystal Desert and the continent of Tyria - seen in the Prophecies campaign - lies the oriental continent of Elona. Until this point, only henchmen have been available to join players in battle. With this campaign, heroes are introduced into the game. Nightfall is the third part of the Guild Wars MMORPG 1 and was released in 2006, soon after Factions. A shadow of an ancient and forgotten darkness. Characters from previous versions of Guild Wars can be imported into the Nightfall game to make use of the new content and abilities.Elona, land of the golden sun. Nightfall also introduces heroic companions, which function as customizable henchmen that stay with the player's character from one adventure to the next. Nightfall characters can choose to become a Dervishes (holy warriors) or Paragons (guardian angels chosen by gods). Released as a stand-alone game, but also as an expansion to previous Guild Wars titles, Nightfall features riddles to solve, two additional character professions, 300 skills, 250 quests, 55 explorable areas, 20 story missions, three challenge missions, four added guild halls, and hero battles that focus on player-versus-player combat.
